Cardamom Tented Camp is an eco-adventure paradise in the heart of Botum Sakor National Park, Cambodia’s largest and most biodiverse park and one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. This unique camp is a three-way initiative between The Minor Group, YAANA Ventures and Wildlife Alliance that offers eco-friendly packages to adventure enthusiasts keen to be a part of real conservation work. The camp is home to nine safari-style tents that blend in with the natural surroundings and minimize the human impact on the environment. With the tagline, ‘Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing,’ Cardamom Tented Camp invites guests to join the Wildlife Alliance Rangers on patrol, kayak along the Preak Tachan River, hike through the jungle trails, or simply relax and enjoy the wildlife sounds. Cardamom Tented Camp is located in western Cambodia’s Koh Kong Province, inside an 18,000-hectare concession that is home to pristine lowland and coastal habitats linking wildlife corridors to the Cardamom Mountains. The camp is surrounded by lush forest, mangrove and river areas that host some of the world’s most endangered species, such as Asian elephants, clouded leopards, pangolins and sun bears.
Sustainability
Cardamom Tented Camp is committed to sustainability and environmental awareness. The camp uses renewable energy sources to power its facilities and reduce its carbon emissions. It has solar panels and a wind turbine that generate electricity, and collects rainwater for irrigation and washing. All the tents have low-energy appliances and LED lighting, as well as organic cotton bedding and towels. The camp practices organic agriculture and permaculture, and sells its produce at local markets and to guests. The camp also hosts educational workshops and tours for visitors who want to learn more about eco-friendly living. Cardamom Tented Camp supports the conservation efforts of Wildlife Alliance in cooperation with the local community, enabling guests to participate in conservation-related activities that protect the evergreen forest and its animals. The camp’s slogan is ‘Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing,’ reflecting its mission to prevent logging, poaching and sand dredging in the 18,000-hectare concession that is home to some of the world’s most endangered species. The camp also evaluates its environmental impact on a regular basis to ensure the lowest impact possible. All of its cleaning fluids, personal care products and insect repellents are locally-sourced by Kambio Nature and are 100% organic. Cardamom Tented Camp employs local staff from the nearby villages and provides them with training and fair wages. The camp also works with local suppliers and partners to support the local economy and community. The camp’s management team consists of experienced professionals from The Minor Group, YAANA Ventures and Wildlife Alliance, who share a passion for conservation and ecotourism.
