Some of the notable features of Grootbos are: Solar panels that provide 70% of the electricity needs Rainwater harvesting system that collects and stores 1 million liters of water annually Greywater recycling system that reuses water for irrigation Organic farm that grows fruits, vegetables and herbs without chemical pesticides or fertilizers Beekeeping project that produces honey and pollinates plants Greenhouse project that propagates endangered plant species Waste management system that composts organic waste and recycles plastic waste Grootbos supports various initiatives that aim to improve the lives of the local communities through its foundation.
