The homestay also preserves and promotes Tamang culture, which is at risk of extinction due to migration and modernization.

The village has about 200 households, mostly belonging to the Tamang ethnic group. The Tamang are one of the oldest indigenous people of Nepal, who have their own language, religion and customs. Rooms
Gre Village Community Homestay offers two types of rooms to suit different budgets and preferences: standard rooms and deluxe rooms. Both types of rooms are spacious, clean and cozy, with comfortable beds, blankets and pillows. The rooms have large windows that let in natural light and fresh air, as well as balconies or terraces that offer panoramic views of the mountains or the fields. The rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water supply and toiletries. The rooms also have amenities such as Wi-Fi, kettle, wardrobe and safe.
The standard rooms are located in the host families’ homes, where you can experience the authentic village life. The standard rooms have a rustic style, with wooden furniture, earthen walls and traditional paintings. The standard rooms can accommodate up to 3 people.
The deluxe rooms are located in a separate building, where you can enjoy more privacy and comfort. The deluxe rooms have a modern style, with metal furniture, concrete walls and colorful paintings. The deluxe rooms can accommodate up to 4 people.
Food and drink
Gre Village Community Homestay serves delicious Nepali food that is prepared with organic ingredients grown in its own farm. The food is cooked in a hygienic kitchen using biogas and solar energy. The food is offered to the deities before being served to the guests, ensuring its sanctity and purity. The food is served in a spacious dining hall that can accommodate up to 100 people at a time. The menu includes a variety of dishes from Nepali cuisine, such as dal bhat (rice and lentils), momo (dumplings), sel roti (rice flour doughnuts), aloo paratha (potato stuffed bread), thukpa (noodle soup), chatamari (rice flour crepe) and more. The food is usually spicy, but can be adjusted according to your preference. The homestay also serves tea, coffee, juice and water.

Getting there
Gre Village Community Homestay is located in Nuwakot district, about 100 km from Kathmandu. The easiest way to reach the homestay is by car or taxi, which takes about 3 hours from Kathmandu. You can also take a bus from Kathmandu to Bidur, which takes about 4 hours, and then take a jeep or a rickshaw to the homestay, which takes another hour. The homestay can arrange for pick-up and drop-off services from the station or the airport upon request.
