Swinton Bivouac

Swinton Estate is a stunning 20,000-acre estate in North Yorkshire, blending nature, heritage, and sustainability. Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, the estate offers visitors an immersive experience in a region known for its scenic beauty. Swinton is committed to sustainability, focusing on rewilding, biodiversity, and responsible land management. Their extensive rewilding project includes the introduction of native species and the restoration of habitats to support wildlife conservation, including the reintroduction of red squirrels and wild boar. The estate also leads on sustainable farming practices, providing organic produce for the on-site restaurant, and reducing its carbon footprint through renewable energy sources. The estate incorporates eco-friendly initiatives throughout, from using sustainable materials to offering electric vehicle charging points. The unique bivouac was built using materials from the estate and insulated with local Cumbrian wool. A carbon neutral wood chip boiler heats the pod. Activities here make the most of the stunning surroundings, from mindfulness retreats, wild swimming and reiki drumming to cycling and hiking.
