Wheatland Farm & Eco-Lodges is a unique resort in rural Devon, where guests can enjoy nature and comfort in a collection of cosy lodges and a cottage. Sustainability
Wheatland Farm & Eco-Lodges is committed to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The lodges and cottage are designed to reduce energy consumption and waste production, using renewable materials, insulation, natural ventilation and pellet stoves. The resort also uses solar panels, rainwater harvesting, composting toilets and organic products. The resort aims to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area, by managing 21 acres of land as a nature reserve. The resort also supports local businesses and suppliers, and partners with other environmental and social organisations. Rooms
Wheatland Farm & Eco-Lodges offers four types of lodges and a cottage: Balebarn Lodge, Beech Lodge, Honeysuckle Lodge, Nuthatch Lodge and Otter Cottage. The Balebarn Lodge is the largest and most luxurious unit, with four bedrooms that can sleep up to eight people. It has a spacious living area with a wood burner, a kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathroom with a bath and a shower, and a veranda with a hot tub (optional) and a stunning view of the wildlife pond. The Beech Lodge is similar to the Balebarn Lodge, but smaller and without the wood burner. It has three bedrooms that can sleep up to six people. It also has a hot tub (optional) on the veranda. The Honeysuckle Lodge is ideal for couples or small families, with one bedroom that can sleep up to four people. It has a living area with a sofa bed, a kitchen with an oven, a bathroom with a shower, and a veranda with an outside bath (optional). The Nuthatch Lodge is similar to the Honeysuckle Lodge, but without the outside bath. It also has one bedroom that can sleep up to four people. The Otter Cottage is the only unit that is not an eco-lodge. It is an old stone cottage that has been renovated with modern amenities. It has two bedrooms that can sleep up to four people. It has a living area with an open fire, a kitchen with a fridge, a microwave and a toaster, and a bathroom with a bath and a shower. The cottage also has a garden with a BBQ and a picnic table. All lodges and cottage have free Wi-Fi, TV, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, hairdryer, iron and board. The lodges and cottage also have eco-friendly features such as solar panels, composting toilets, pellet stoves and recycled furniture.
Food and drink
Wheatland Farm & Eco-Lodges does not have an on-site restaurant or bar, but guests can enjoy self-catering in their lodges and cottage, or visit some of the local pubs and eateries nearby. The lodges and cottage have fully equipped kitchens with ovens, fridges, microwaves, toasters, kettles and crockery. Guests can also use the BBQ facilities, the pizza oven and the campfire spots on the farm. There are also several pubs and restaurants within a short drive, such as the Kings Arms in Winkleigh, the Rams Head Inn in Dolton, the Fox & Hounds Country Hotel in Eggesford and the Lymington Arms in Wembworthy. Guests can also find local produce and groceries at the Winkleigh Cider Company, the Hatherleigh Market and the Holsworthy Farmers Market.

Getting there
Wheatland Farm & Eco-Lodges is located in Winkleigh, a village in Devon, England. The nearest airport is Exeter International Airport, which is about 35 miles away. From there, guests can take a train to Eggesford and then a taxi or a bus to the resort. Alternatively, guests can rent a car and drive to the resort, following the A30 to Whiddon Down and then taking the A3124 to Winkleigh. The resort has a free parking area for guests. The resort also offers a pick-up service from Eggesford station for a small charge.
