Casa Des Garcas is located in Ibo Island, one of the 32 islands that make up the Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique’s largest and most biodiverse marine park. The island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts a rich cultural and natural heritage. The lodge is surrounded by lush forest, mangrove and river areas that host some of the world’s most endangered species, such as dugongs, turtles, dolphins and whales. This unique lodge is a joint initiative of Quirimbas National Park and the Italian Organization Istituto Oikos, funded by the Italian Cooperation. It offers eco-friendly packages to travellers and researchers who want to be part of real conservation work and learn about the local culture and history. The lodge is home to three bungalows and two mini apartments that blend in with the natural surroundings and minimize the human impact on the environment. With the slogan, ‘Hosted by Nature,’ Casa Des Garcas invites guests to join the park staff on patrol, kayak along the Preak Tachan River, hike through the mangrove forests, or simply relax and enjoy the wildlife sounds.
