Ngaga Camp is a rustic and authentic retreat that offers you the rare opportunity to track and observe the endangered western lowland gorillas in their natural habitat. Ngaga Camp is located just outside the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse protected areas, home to a wealth of wildlife and stunning landscapes. Ngaga Camp consists of six thatched chalets, built on stilts among the trees. The chalets are simple but comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets, ceiling fans and solar-powered lighting. Each chalet has a private deck with views over the forest canopy, home to birds and monkeys. There is a star deck and fire pit for communal evening gatherings, and a natural swimming spot on the Ngaga Stream below the camp. The gorilla tracking experience is led by expert guides and researchers from the Congo Conservation Company. You will have the chance to visit two habituated groups of gorillas, each with about 25 individuals, and observe their behaviour from a respectful distance. Besides gorillas, there are birding walks, night walks, and village visits. You can also visit other camps in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, such as Lango Camp and Mboko Camp, which offer different experiences such as canoeing, kayaking, river cruises and savanna safaris.
