Fogo Island Inn is a striking architectural marvel that sits on the edge of the North Atlantic Ocean, on a remote island off the coast of Newfoundland. It’s a place to immerse yourself in the rugged beauty and rich culture of Fogo Island, with 29 unique guest rooms that offer stunning views of the sea and the sky. It’s also a place to enjoy world-class cuisine, art, design and hospitality, while supporting a social enterprise that reinvests all profits into the local community. Fogo Island Inn is located on Fogo Island, one of the four corners of the Earth according to the Flat Earth Society. It’s a small island with a big personality, home to about 2,500 people who live in 11 historic fishing villages. The island has a rich history of fishing, boat building, crafting and storytelling, as well as a vibrant contemporary arts scene. The inn is perched on stilts on a rocky shore, overlooking the vast ocean and the dramatic coastline. The inn is a masterpiece of modern design, inspired by the traditional fishing stages of Fogo Island. It was designed by Newfoundland-born architect Todd Saunders, who also created six artist studios around the island. The inn is made of wood and glass, with sharp angles and clean lines that contrast with the organic landscape. The interior is cozy and colourful, with handmade furniture and quilts, wood-burning stoves, floor-to-ceiling windows and artworks by local and international artists.
