There are no roads, no noise and no stress at Matava. Located on the island of Kadavu, south of the main island of Viti Levu, Matava is a collection of 10 traditional thatched Fijian bures, each with its own private sun deck and en-suite bathroom. The bures are set in tropical rainforest, overlooking the turquoise lagoon and the Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef, one of the world’s largest and most diverse coral reefs. Matava serves as a prime base for exploring Kadavu and the Great Astrolabe Reef. Dive or snorkel with marine life at the resort’s PADI 5 Star Dive Centre. Other activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, and jungle hikes.

Getting There

To get to Matava, you need to fly to Nadi International Airport on Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Vunisea Airport on Kadavu Island, which takes about 45 minutes. Matava provides a free roundtrip airport shuttle service to the resort, which takes about an hour by boat.
